International Studies Center of Landlocked Developing Countries set up for the first time here

The UN-Secretary General Ban Ki-moon with his wife paid an official visit to Mongolia on July 26-28, 2009.
In a course of the visit, he called on Mongolia’s President Ts.Elbegdorj and held an official meeting with Prime Minister S.Bayar.
The two sides agreed to intensify cooperation between Mongolia and the UN on directions of implementation of the Millennium Development Goals, the National Development Strategy, and the “3rd campaign for reclaiming virgin lands” national program, of improvement of food supplies, and of overcoming the financial crisis, and of development between state and private sectors.
The Secretary General arrived in local area and got au fait with life of herder family.
He also talked about the climate change influence to Mongolia and then, he read a lecture themed “Adapting to Climate Change” to people on July 27, 2009 at the Government House of Mongolia.
In connection with the Secretary General’s visit, a decision of principle was passed by the National Security Consul on sending a battalion with 800 people from Mongolia to the UN peacekeeping activity in Chad.

Therefore, Mr. Ban Ki-moon was visiting to the Tavan Tolgoi Peace Operations Support Training Center of the Armed Forces. He also attended an opening ceremony of the International Studies Center of Landlocked Developing Countries.
