Little girl saves baby sister from fire

Thirty-two-month-old Saranchimeg, daughter of M.Buyanbat, pulled her 10-month-old sister out of a fire at home on February 25. The incident occurred in Khankhongor soum of Umnugobi province. The fire began when their parents were out to bring back the livestock. They came back home to find Saranchimeg sitting in the barn with her sister in her lap. The baby was burnt in a few places and is being treated in hospital.

Saranchimeg said she noticed smoke coming out of the TV plug. She left the ger with her sister immediately, before the fire destroyed everything in it. The eldest of Buyanbat’s three daughters is 10 years old and lives with her grandmother in the soum center.
